Generosity of material wealth ... is not merely a question of giving the object or giving money, but more of the attitude behind it ... No matter how small the thing is in terms of value, one must be fully involved in the giving so that a part of one's ego is also given away.

Dear friend of Shambhala,
As we count our blessings at this time of year, we are grateful to you and all the members of the community for providing membership support and dedication to the Shambhala Meditation Center of New York. Your support and participation in the community is what creates the space for the dharma to flourish in New York City.
At this time of leadership transition, we are happy to share with you that the search committee for our new Executive Director is actively at work interviewing and screening candidates. Our top candidates will go to the Kalapa Council and ultimately the Sakyong will appoint the new Executive Director. We are hoping to have the new Executive Director in place early on in 2011.
We’re also delighted to share that we are seeing more and more people at the center this fall—the Tuesday night Dharma Gatherings are drawing over one hundred people each week, our Way of Shambhala weekly courses are larger than ever before, and over a hundred people have attended Shambhala Training Level I this fall.
As you consider your own generosity in making year-end gifts, we hope you will consider making it a priority to give to our year-end 2010 Annual Campaign. We have many things on our wish list including purchasing new computers for the office and making the center more visible in New York City by supporting new media-based advertising.
It would be most generous if you can help fulfill some of our wishes; we would be grateful. Click here to make a one-time online donation to our end of the year annual campaign. Your support also helps us to continue offering the profound and brilliant wisdom of our tradition to a 21st century world that is increasingly challenged by materialism, confusion, and aggression.
We wish you and your family and friends a happy and healthy holiday season and hope to see you at our holiday party on December 18th at 7 p.m. at the center.
Yours in the vision of the Great Eastern Sun,
Sangyum Agness Au Kathy Herre

Many corporations, foundations and other organizations will match their employees’ charitable contributions. Find out whether your company is among them. If so, simply complete the appropriate form from the personnel or human resources department and include it with your donation. Matching grants can double or even triple your gift to the Shambhala Mediation Center of New York.
