October 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm America/New_YorkUSD 20
with Dan Cayer
Contact person: Lance Brunner
Open to all. Zoom details sent upon registration.
In both small and large ways, pain becomes a feature of everyone’s meditation practice. So what do we do about this? Should we move, stay still, take time off, or practice more? In this talk and experiential practice, we will explore different ways of relating with pain and discomfort, and what the path to healing may look like.
About the Teacher
Dan Cayer is a Westchester-based teacher and writer who is committed to helping others change habitual patterns, find freedom from pain, and create a sane relationship with their body. He is a longtime meditator and trained instructor. After a serious injury left Dan unable to work or take care of himself, he began training in the Alexander Technique. His return to health, as well as his deep experience with the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of pain and illness, inspired him to help others. Dan now teaches an integration of mindfulness and the Alexander Technique as a method of recovering balance and well-being.
About the Dharma Gathering
The Dharma Gathering is a perfect introduction to meditation practice and the Shambhala teachings, as well as an opportunity to connect with like-minded New Yorkers. The evening consists of guided meditation, a talk by one of our teachers, and discussion.
This open house is an opportunity to meditate in a supportive group setting, to learn about how to apply the principles of meditation to daily life, and to meet with others interested in mindfulness.
Please note that Dharma Gatherings are recorded for public viewing. If you do not wish your image to appear in a publicly viewable video, you are welcome attend the meeting while stopping your video.
