Dharma Gathering: The Sound Object in Contemplative Context (online)
November 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm America/New_YorkUSD 20
with Alexander Van Gils
Contact person: Anne Emmanuelle Roche-Bret
Open to all. Zoom details sent upon registration.
In this live online gathering, we will pair two experiences— the practice of sitting meditation and the practice of hearing sound. We are invited to explore how this contemplative context might affect or transform the experience of hearing a sound object, particularly when hearing without seeing the causes behind that sound. This investigation is rooted in the notion of “acousmatic” listening from the theory and practice of Pierre Schaeffer.
