Meditation for Psychotherapists and the Therapeutic Relationship

November 13 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm America/Chicago

USD 75

with Shastri Marita McLaughlin & Dr. Timothy Pedigo
Contact person: Jeff Jones

Meditation offers a unique support for recognizing our basic sanity and wisdom. Our original sanity can be uncovered as we open to the direct experience of all aspects of what is showing up in our mind and body.  We have an innate capacity to perceive our physical sensations, emotions and thoughts as they arise moment to moment. We can strengthen our collaboration with clients by employing curiosity and recognizing our mutual human goodness beyond any diagnosis or techniques.

Objectives of this training:
– Appreciate human basic goodness as basis for the therapeutic process
– Distinguish mindfulness and meditation
– Understand the meditation and brain relationship
– Learn how to establish a consistent personal meditation practice
– Utilize an inclusive approach to what comes up in our human experience
– Clarify when meditation is clinically appropriate for clients
