Reaching the Top: Your Head, Neck & Eyes

Saturday, May 22, 1:30-4:30pm

Join us to discover how to support your head more efficiently and pleasantly with your entire physical self, not just your neck. Ease in your upper body begins with clear support up and through your skeleton from the ground. You’ll uncover patterns of self-use which actually interfere with your intention and find more useful choices.

Your eyes play a key role in assisting effortless movement. The six muscles which control your eyes also influence your face, neck, and back.

You have no anatomical neck. You have seven cervical vertebrae which are part of your spinal column, 33 in all. We all get into trouble when we move as if our heads are supported only by those seven small vertebrae at the top of the chain, rather than spreading the load throughout the spine.

Join us whether or not you’ve attended other workshops in the Discover Yourself series.

All you need are:

• A blanket or mat
• Loose-fitting clothes
• Curiosity

Join this session individually or sign up for the full ‘Discover Yourself From the Ground Up’ series. To sign up for the whole series, register for “Starting With The Ground” and choose the patron price. We will automatically add your registration to the other classes.

The Method

The Feldenkrais Method® is a unique, potent approach to improving human movement and catalyzing learning and change based on principles of physics, neuroscience and physiology, and the conditions under which the nervous system learns best. Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. (1904-1984), a physicist and the first Western black belt in judo, developed the techniques and theory.

Angela Alston helps people reconnect with their innate strength using the Feldenkrais Method. She has practiced meditation and Feldenkrais® since 1996, and has taught since 2010. Learn more about training with Angela at Roots of Strength: https://rootsofstrength.net/.

This program is IN-PERSON at 646 Brookilne Avenue. Registration is limited to 15.

Participants will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of registration, and a confirmation email with program details approximately 3-5 days before the program begins. Note that the emails may go to your promotions folder.
