Cancelled
Sessions will open with a short period of meditation with brief guided instruction. Each meeting will highlight a different Buddhist teaching using selections from Pema Chödrön’s books that will be screen-shared and read aloud. There is no need to purchase a book or read ahead—unless you would like to do this. The reading will be followed by an opportunity to contemplate and reflect on how these teachings might apply to our everyday lives.
Each attending person will be provided with a link to a PDF of The Essential Pema that includes optional additional study suggestions.
Pema Chödrön has been many things to the many people whose lives she has touched over a lifetime of sharing the teachings of the Buddha and her own life. She has been a shining example of what it means to be a student of the path, a powerful inspiration when we needed to be reminded of what is true in our lives and a good friend during all of the times when that was the one thing that we needed. She has shown up in our lives always at just the right time, as a fellow traveler, grandmother, nag, teacher and cheerleader.
– Tim Olmsted, The Essential Pema
All are warmly welcome—whether you are new to Pema Chödrön’s teachings or someone wanting to return for a deeper look. Feel free to join us each week, or drop in whenever you’d like!
No previous meditation experience is necessary.
Pema Chödrön is an American Buddhist nun, resident teacher at Gampo Abbey, and the author of such popular books as The Places That Scare You, When Things Fall Apart and Start Where You Are. Her life experiences as wife, mother, and school teacher, and her years of study and practice with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, uniquely empower Pema to speak to Westerners, both Buddhists and non-Buddhists.
