Contentment & Self-Acceptance: A Meditation Mini-Retreat

Explore this recorded Shambhala Online course at your own pace.

Meditation is often viewed as a way of attaining special states of mind or somehow improving ourselves. But the real strength and depth of meditation emerge when we begin to let go of such ambitions and become willing to encounter and accept ourselves just as we are–as utterly ordinary and imperfect individuals. In the gentle discipline of unconditional openness–“nothing to achieve and nothing to prove”–we can begin to experience our innate worthiness and uncover the basic sanity and warmth that are always available to us as ordinary human beings.

This three-hour mini-retreat will include a brief reflection on the title theme, guided instruction followed by periods of sitting and walking meditation, the contemplative practice of aimless wandering, and a period of group discussion at the end. All are welcome, including those who have no previous experience with meditation. This is an in-person event.

Limited scholarships available for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Email [email protected] for details.
