los Sadhana de Mahamudra, written by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, is the only Vajrayana practice in the Shambhala community open to all. Integrating Mahamudra and Dzogchen, it was written to help us bring about some understanding and realization in the world; as Trungpa Rinpoche says it is a means for “awakening yourself from… deepest confusion and chaos and self-punishment”.
The Sadhana of Mahamudra is traditionally chanted in a group setting near the new and full moon each month.
To fully understand the sadhana this class will start with a brief history of Buddhism, especially in India and Tibet, then we will examine each section of the text discussing the names, Tibetan terms and Vajrayana references.
Each class will be about 1 ½-2 hrs and on-going, taking as many weeks as needed to discuss the sadhana thoroughly. The class will be useful for anyone interested in gaining an understanding of Vajrayana practice.
