Tuesdays, Nov. 5 – Dec. 10, 6:30-8:00 pm
Hosted by Wisdom Flame at the Halifax Shambhala Centre.
As global crises escalate, many of us are searching for spaces of refuge, in our communities and within ourselves. How can we access and embody true refuge? How can we work with feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation, while also extending to others?
Join us as we explore Lama Willa Baker’s somatic mindfulness, Lama Rigzin Drölma’s contemplation on impermanence, Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects, Pema Chödrön’s advice for “living in the challenge zone,” and Lama Tsultrim Allione’s practices for Feeding your Demons and embodying the Great Mother, Prajnaparamita.
Each meeting will include guided meditation, other practices that nourish mind and body, reflection with one or two others, and open discussion.
Hosted by Susan Lorraine ( Szpakowski) and friends. Susan has been studying Buddhism since 1975, first as a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and since 2016 with Lama Tsultrim and Tara Mandala. In 2017 she co-founded How We Thrive, a local nonprofit which hosts gatherings and events related to climate change, decolonizing and resilience.

What to bring and what not to bring
Meditation is easiest when you’re wearing clothes that you feel comfortable moving in and sitting in – be that in a chair or on a meditation cushion.
This is a scent-free environment. In order to care for community members with serious allergies, please do not use products with ingredients like “fragrance,” “parfum,” or other indications of scents.
Please bring your travel mug and/or your water bottle. Help our community avoid single-use plastic bottles, please.
