An Experiential Workshop based on Joanna Macy’s Transformative Activism
Facilitated by Lee Reinert and Carol Adams
November 17th and December 15th , 1:00 to 5:00
There will also be a free introductory hour after morning sitting, open to all : 11:00 to 12:00 on both dates.
We start with an unvarnished view of the world as it is, with a historical perspective of how we arrived at this fragile state with multiple ongoing crises in every area of life. As we cope with ever-changing environmental degradation, we will explore the stages of change: gratitude, grief, interconnection, and new possibilities.
The workshop is based on Joanna Macy’s foundational work “Active Hope,” grounded in Buddhism and Systems Theory. After six decades of climate change activism, she offers new possibilities that build community and strengthen our purpose to be of service to our world. We will engage this work together with guided experiential activities: journaling, movement, meditation, a nature walk, and deep personal reflection and sharing. Our goal is to discover resilience, creative power and a vision of a possible future for our earth.
You are welcome to attend either, or both sessions.
