Trusting the Heart: A Meditation Mini Retreat

Burdened by troublesome habits and psychological hangups, many times we may doubt that we can trust ourselves. When we look into ourselves, we tend to fixate on our restlessness, neurosis, and aggression. But meditation arises from the view that on the most basic level, even with all our messiness and pain, there is actually nothing fundamentally wrong with us. Our basic nature is inherently pure and open. As we sit with ourselves with honesty and gentleness, we begin to relax into our basic nature and tap into our natural warmth and vitality. We find that we can afford to trust our practice and, more fundamentally, to trust our innate wisdom as we start to unlock the strength and tenderness of our heart.

This three-hour mini-retreat will include a brief reflection on the title theme, guided instruction followed by periods of sitting and walking meditation, other contemplative practices, and a period of group discussion. All are welcome, including those who have no previous experience with meditation. This is an in-person event.

Limited scholarships available for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Email [email protected] for details.
