Warrior in the World

Engaging in the World Directly

Warrior in the world is awakening to the immediacy and brilliance of our sense perceptions. Through direct perception we can engage in the world with a confidence that is open and vulnerable to what we experience. By intimately engaging with our perceptions we become fearless, gentle and alive!

Bringing the mindfulness and awareness developed in our meditation sessions “off the cushion” we take it into our everyday life. When we learn to integrate our sense perceptions into daily activities we develop a passion for the phenomenal world. Our genuine confidence, humour and personal dignity comes forth.

This weekend retreat includes

  • Guided meditation instruction
  • Talks on meditation
  • Group discussion
  • Silent periods
  • Periods of group sitting meditation
  • “Zen-style” walking meditation

This weekend is a follow-up to Birth of the Warrior and the third in a series of Shambhala Training weekend retreats.

Shambhala vision teaches that, in the face of the world’s great problems, we can be heroic and kind at the same time.
—Chogyam Trungpa, Shambhala, The Sacred Path of the Warrior.
