Level l: The Art of Being Human

The program introduces the study and practice of Shambhala warriorship—a path of nonaggression born from the willingness to meet our world without bias or judgment. This path shows how to take the challenges of everyday life as opportunities for both contemplative practice and societal action.

The workshops include instruction in meditation, the practice of sitting and walking meditation, one-on-one interviews to clarify questions, group discussions and talks by senior teachers.

Recommended Reading: No prerequisite studies are required to participate in this program. However, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s book Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior is an excellent introduction to the principles covered in this and subsequent courses. You can purchase a copy online or at the Montreal Shambhala Meditation Centre.

Level 1 is the prerequisite  for all other Shambhala Training Levels.

The program will be taught in English with French translation.
