Gary Hubiak encountered Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in San Francisco in 1972. He lived at Tail of the Tiger (later named Karme Chöling retreat center) from 1974-78. In 1978 he was appointed Co-Director of Rocky Mountain Dharma Center (now Drala Mountain Center) in Colorado. He helped host two of H.H. Karmapa XVI visits to the U.S. Gary moved to Mexico in 2003 and has been active in the Shambhala community there. He recently was Co-Director of the Shambhalacalli Shambhala Center in Tepoztlan and Cuernavaca, Mexico. He is a dentist with two daughters.
