The Weekly Dharma Gathering is a great introduction to meditation practice and the Shambhala teachings. The evening consists of guided meditation, a talk by one of our teachers, and a community reception.

This open house is an opportunity to meditate in a group setting, learn about how to apply the principles of meditation to daily life, and meet and mingle with like-minded New Yorkers.

If you're new to Shambhala NYC, we definitely encourage you to join us on a Tuesday night. Bring your friends!

About the Teacher:

Acharya Eric Spiegel has been teaching in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition for over 40 years and has studied directly with both Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.   As an Acharya (which means "Teacher" in sanskrit) he is one of a small group of senior teachers empowered by The Sakyong to directly represent the Shambhala Lineage.

In addition to a 40 year career in finance Eric is known for his work with people with HIV and other life-threatening illnesses.  Lately he has been teaching extensively on the topics of fearlessness in relating with Death and also on the place of “Wealth and Power” in spirituality.  He is interested in exploring the nature of mind and meditation as they relate to the hard complexities of “real life”: how do we practice work, practice money, relationships, health, and aging while maintaining an uplifted and forward vision about our life.

Acharya Spiegel lives in rural upstate NY in the western foothills of the Berkshires.

All people regardless of ability to pay are welcome to attend using our Generosity Policy. To learn more and apply, please email [email protected]
