Our four week Learn to Meditate foundation course provides a complete introduction to mindfulness meditation. It uses an ‘eyes open’ style of meditation which emphasises meditation as a way to help us engage with our world rather than escape from it. It is led by trained and experienced instructors in our large and well-equipped meditation hall.
Mindfulness meditation provides many benefits – it develops the qualities of stability, clarity, and strength of mind. It allows us to live more mindfully, improves confidence and concentration, and enables us to handle stress better. Ultimately it enables us to relax with who we are. The Learn to Meditate course provides tools and practical advice for developing your own mindfulness meditation practice.
Each of the four classes involves guided meditation instruction, meditation practice, mindful activities, and discussion. We also use a method of ‘speaking and listening from the heart’ . The course is interactive and communal – we aim to create a learning environment where the instructions become experiential and directly relevant to our daily lives.
Basic meditation: posture, mindfulness of breathing, working with thoughts.
Starting a meditation practice at home.
Meditation as a way of making friends with ourself.
Working with obstacles to meditation practice.
Understanding how meditation ‘works’: mindfulness (trenpa) and awareness (seshin).
Obstacles and antidotes (continued).
How meditation nurtures insight.
How to go forward.

Learn to meditate is for anyone who is new to mindfulness meditation, or would like to reconnect with and further develop their meditation practice.
To get the full benefit from the course it is recommended that participants commit to practising ten minutes of meditation at home, daily or as often as possible, for the duration of the course.

Cancellation up to 1 week before the programme will receive a full refund, after that there will be a £20 fee charged for cancellation up until the 19th March after which no refund is granted.
