Bringing an Attitude of Practice into Relationships

with John Seex
May 5 / 9:30 AM - May 5 / 5:30 PM

"The way of the Buddha is the way of the self;

The way of the self is to know the self;

To know the self is to forget the self and realise 10,000 dharmas,

Dogen Zenji

Relationships are a practice of going beyond our fixed and habitual notion of self or ME - a profound practice of opening to the world and trusting the open space of what happens between us.  We can only let go and go beyond ourselves when we know ourselves.

During the course of the day we will explore the paradox:  the only way to truly open up to the other is to first open up to oneself.  The day will take place within the context of shamatha mindfulness meditation together with talks, discussion and dialogue.  Being a topic which is probably relevant for most of us, it is open to all and meditation instruction will be available for anyone new to this practice.

The day will be led by Shastri John Seex who is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Lineage. He has worked as a psychotherapist for many years and is also a member of the teaching faculty for Karuna Training, a two year professional training in contemplative psychology.

Refreshments will be available from 9.30 until 10 am.

Cost: £35/£25 if paid in full by 14 April 19
