The Profound Guru Yoga (Vajrayana)
with Richard John
November 15 / 9:00 AM - November 15 / 4:30 PM
Before escaping from Tibet at the age of 19, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche was already a revered lineage holder and accomplished teacher. Following tradition, he wrote this guru yoga for his students to practice in his absence. The text was brought to the West in 2003 by his nephew, Karma Senge Rinpoche, who translated it with the Nalanda Translation Committee and traveled widely giving the reading transmission and teachings.
In this one-day retreat, after receiving the lung we will practice this short and pithy guru yoga several times, and have talks and discussion. The very rich commentary with the text touches on the three kayas, three samadhis, absolute and relative bodhichitta, and other key teachings from the mahamudra and dzokchen lineages.
We will complete the day with the Sadhana of Mahamudra, followed by a feast-style buffet. All tantrikas are invited.
Pre-requisite: Restricted to tantrikas who received transmission at a Vajrayana Seminary or Sacred World Assembly, regardless of your current practice. All participants should purchase a copy of the text ahead of time. Contact Lyle Larson if you do not have it.
