Sunday Dharma Talk: Trauma and Meditation
with Lassiter Williams
December 8 / 10:30 AM - December 8 / 12:00 PM
Mindfulness and embodiment are essential to healing trauma, but there needs to be more understanding of how trauma stored in the body can be triggered by deep relaxation and meditative states. With this understanding, trauma and mindfulness can work in tandem towards healing, rather than exacerbating any sense of isolation or threat that may arise with the unexpected appearance of trauma symptoms.
Lassiter will be giving a talk on how her experience of trauma has affected her meditation practice, and vice versa.
