This pairing symbolizes the perfection of wisdom initiating the perfections of method – generosity, discipline, patience, effort and concentration. A kneeling deer in the lower left holds a lotus stem in its mouth to support one of the king’s feet. A devotee whose hands are held in a gesture of reverence supports the other foot.
