Join us on the summer solstice for a very special Sadhana of Mahamudra Feast with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, who has a special connection with Trungpa Rinpoche and with this sadhana. He attended the very first Sadhana of Mahamudra abhisheka with the Vidyadhara.

About Ringu Tulku Rinpoche

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is a Tibetan Buddhist Master of the Kagyu Order. He was trained in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism under many great masters such as HH the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He took his formal education at Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Gangtok and Sampurnananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi, India and has served as Professor of Tibetology in Sikkim for 17 წლები. His doctoral thesis was on the Ecumenical Movement in Tibet.

Ringu Tulku met Trungpa Rinpoche in 1962 at the Young Lamas Home School in Dalhousie, ინდოეთი, where Trungpa Rinpoche was the 22-year-old spiritual advisor to the school, and Ringu Tulku Rinpoche was a 10-year-old student. Six years later they met again at a small gathering in Delhi where Trungpa Rinpoche bestowed the Sadhana of Mahamudra abhisheka, shortly after receiving this terma on retreat at Taktsang, ბუტანი. Not having any ritual implements, he used a coke bottle as the tsobum (“principal vase”).

Listen to Ringu Tulku’s recollections of his time at the Young Lamas Home School and this spontaneous Sadhana of Mahamudra empowerment inPart Two of this 2013 interview with Ringu Tulku conducted by our friends at the Westchester Meditation Center.

About The Sadhana Of Mahamudra

ჩოგიამ ტრუნგპა რინპოჩემ დაწერამაჰამუდრას სადჰანა in 1968 while on retreat in the cave of Paro Taktsang in Bhutan. The მაჰამუდრას სადჰანა invokes Padmasambhava in the aspect of Dorje Trolö, inseparable from the Karmapa lineage, to help us overcome materialism and confusion in these times. It involves formless meditation, visualization, and chanting.

The sadhana is traditionally practiced communally on the new and full moon days, as well as on special occasions such as this.
