Latin-American Female Composers: Lecture and Recital

Description: We continue our celebration of International Women’s Week with this multimedia recital + lecture by Ecuadorian soprano Andrea Salazar, who will sing in multiple languages and present historical context for works by Mexican and Ecuadorian female composers. Mrs. Salazar will be accompanied by pianist Paige Crain. 

 

Bios: Ecuadorian Soprano, Andrea Salazar has participated in multiple productions with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado. She holds a B.S. in Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, and  M. M in Vocal Performance from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Salazar is pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Kentucky under the guidance of Dr. Everett McCorvey.

Paige Crain is a pianist based in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to performing collaboratively in Lexington and Louisville, Paige teaches applied piano at Centre College and maintains a private studio in Lexington. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Kentucky, working toward a degree in Collaborative Piano.
