The Cultural Roots and Demonstration of Ikebana – Japanese Flower Arranging

with Teruko Nesbitt and Brooke Pohl
Sunday, March 17, 4-5 pm

Teruko Nesbitt and Brooke Pohl will give an ikebana demonstration and speak to the cultural and personal importance of the contemplative practice of ikebana, “the way of flowers”. Both have practiced ikebana for many years and currently teach in Cincinnati and Lexington.

 

 

Teruko Nesbitt  was born and raised in Japan and has been living in Cincinnati since 1997, where she has been engaged in a wide variety of work related to Japanese language, culture and business. Teruko holds licenses as a Sogetsu Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangement) Certified Instructor, and as a Japanese Calligraphy Kana 3-Dan.

 

Brooke Pohl began studying Sogetsu School Ikebana since 1992 with Riji, Noriko Fields Sensei until her passing in 2021, and now studies with Illse Beunen of Belgium. Brooke has taught Ikenbana at Shambhala Centers throughout the USA and Canada.
