Improv & Meditation (in person)

Wednesday evenings

7–9 pm

How can the two practices of

 meditation and improvisation

 enrich each other?

Improv & Meditation is an opportunity to explore the connections between creativity, performance, and meditation. Both meditation and improvisation ask us to be in the here and now; open to what is—rather than what “should be”—happening; present to ourselves, to the environment, and to others; and able to respond freely and spontaneously.

We’ll examine how meditation helps us cultivate the mental focus, physical freedom, emotional range, and spontaneity that make for a truthful, vibrant performance.

And we’ll experience how playful improvisation can cultivate courage and generosity when we are willing to be a fool and let go of trying to be “in control.”

This series of classes will include meditation instruction and practice, improvisation, awareness exercises, theatre games, and contemplations—all designed to help us open the heart and deepen emotional authenticity, develop stronger presence and confidence, and engage with others in free expression.

Open to all, from the professional performer and experienced meditator to those just beginning to explore new horizons.

Come to one session or join us for all three.

There is no fee for this program; donations are welcome.

Space is limited to 15 participants; be sure to register in advance. Please note in the comments which session(s) you wish to attend.
