Sarah Coleman

Sarah Coleman is a senior teacher in the Vajradhatu/Shambhala mandala. She has been a student of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche since 1972, and had the great good fortune to work closely with him, serving as one of his editors for many years. She collaborated on many of his publications, including both Buddhist and Shambhala teachings.

Sarah started her teaching career, very reluctantly, at the command of Trungpa Rinpoche in 1978. After teaching her first course at the 1978 Vajradhatu Seminary, when the Vidyadhara asked her how the course had gone, Sarah replied, “That was the worst experience of my life!” Rinpoche responded, with an evil grin, “Great! You're doing it again next year!” Subsequently Sarah taught at many of the following Seminaries, led Warrior Assemblies, dathuns, weekend programs, both Shambhala and Buddhist, vajrayana retreats--and basically never looked back.

Passing on the Vidyadhara's teachings to students at all levels of practice has become the
central passion and activity in Sarah's life. Choosing a life as a professional dharma bum, Sarah moved to Europe in 1996, and has been traveling and teaching throughout Europe and the East Bloc countries ever since. Currently she
resides in Barcelona.
