We are now offering a regular lovingkindness, or Metta practice on the first Sunday of the month. We will begin at 11:00 am and a group discussion will follow at 11:30 am. Lovingkindness is a contemplative practice that opens our hearts and nurtures our capacity for compassion. May this be of benefit for of any of us who might be going through difficult times, and give us strength to work with the challenges in our world.
The practice and discussion will be led by Alvin Cotton, long-time Atlanta sangha member and a former Buddhist chaplain resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. Al first came to the Atlanta Center in 1995, and credits his meditation practice with helping him get sober in 2001. In 2005, he helped start the One Breath at a Time AA meeting on Thursday nights. The Center now hosts meetings on Monday and Thursday nights and on Wednesday at noon.
