Shambhala City Weekthun

with Jerry Webster
July 25 / 9:00 AM - July 31 / 6:00 PM

Open to All

A weekthün is a week-long meditation retreat based on the understanding that meditation is always experienced in a social context and that our path is tremendously supported by an awake and kind environment. This retreat will join the practices of Shambhala meditation and shamatha, or mindfulness, meditation, with an emphasis on using the retreat container as a basis for generating loving kindness. We will use every part of our day—including eating together, meditating together, individual meditation instruction and daily teachings—to support each other on our paths. Please join us for this precious opportunity to engage in the practice of meditation.

This urban weekthun is a unique opportunity to deepen one's meditation practice without going far from home. New and experienced meditators are welcome.

Participants are welcome to join for all or part of the weekthun. Should space become an issue, registration preference will be given to those who are participating in the entire weekthun.

The weekthun is a core requirement for several programs along the Shambhala path such as Shambhala Guide Training and Enlightened Society Assembly. Full participation in the city weekthun will count toward the weekthun requirement for these programs.

Prerequisite: none - everyone is welcome

Attendance for part of the weekthün is welcome, with the exception of the final day by itself. If you're not attending the full week, use the Comments section on the registration page to let us know what day(s) you wish to attend and at which pricing level you plan to pay. Please plan to make payment on the day that you arrive. If there are any questions, our registrar will be in touch!

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Patron Price: Please register with the Patron Price if you are able. By offering a little more, you help make programs accessible to participants with less financial means. Thank you!

Sustaining Price: This price is the amount per participant required for the Shambhala Center to cover the costs of the program.

Subsidized Price: This price allows people with less financial means to attend programs at a discounted rate, supported by the contributions at the ‘Patron Price’ level.

Generosity Policy: Our Generosity Policy is an option for participants in unique situations for whom none of the above options are appropriate, and helps make programming available to all those who wish to participate. If the subsidized rate is prohibitive for you, the Generosity Policy allows you to offer as much of the fee as you can based on your individual circumstances. Please consider the value of the program and practice generosity at the level appropriate for you. To utilize the Generosity Policy, please email the Registrar at [email protected] before the program. We cannot accept Generosity Policy registrations at the door, so please make arrangements in advance.
