Explore this recorded Shambhala Online course at your own pace.

Revisit and renew your commitment to being a Shambhala Meditation Instructor! This training is for all those interested in becoming a Meditation Instructor or brushing up on their skills as a Meditation Instructor.

Topics in this course include:

  • How to give initial meditation instruction
  • Working more intentionally with the body
  • Trauma informed meditation instruction
  • Who are we & what is Shambhala?
  • What does it mean to belong?
  • The right use of power
  • Care & Conduct

This course is presented by the Shambhala Office of Practice and Education in collaboration with Shambhala Online. We aspire to always have the most current set of recordings available for Meditation Instructors to use as resources for initial training, continuing education, or as part of the requirements for returning your Meditation Instructor authorization status to “active” if it has lapsed to “inactive.” These recordings are meant to launch conversation rather than being the end of a conversation, and newer iterations of these trainings are already in the works.

Our authorization to transmit meditation instructions on behalf of Shambhala needs to be a living relationship. We should always continue to deepen our understanding of techniques with deep history, and of the modern contexts where those techniques are landing. Our authorization needs to be connected to our living practice of these techniques, and it also needs to be rooted in a community of deepening and engagement.

We hope that these recordings will aid you on your journey of deepening.

Returning to Active Status:

Here is the process for making your MI/Guide status “active” after a period of inactivity:
  1. Watch this course.
  2. Reactivate your personal local center/group membership if it has lapsed
  3. Sign code of conduct: You are required to review and sign Shambhala’s People holding Positions Of Authority policy (POA). You can do this through your Shambhala membership page: HERE. Confirmation that you have signed will then automatically appear in your profile on the Shambhala database.
  4. Fill out this survey of interest: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfBAhwfmK_QOSgr71oQz7wEFi39I4Mwi86b_XxgkG_RKVSibQ/viewform.
  5. P&E checks that survey respondents have registered for the videos, joined their center and signed the POA. Checks Code of Conduct status and with local P&E director.
  6. You will receive an email asking you to sign up for a 30-minute meeting with Jeff Scott.
  7. Your status will change.
